Omar is an international criminal justice reform consultant, visiting lecturer & PhD candidate in Criminology at the University of Westminster, via a Quintin Hogg Scholarship. His research focuses on judicial decision making at the pre-trial stage in Brazil, adopting a decolonial epistemological position to examine the utility of normative human rights discourse. Omar also works on gender responsive projects within criminal justice settings and has evaluated projects and authored guidance documents for various UN departments and international NGOs. He hosts the criminology podcast ‘Justice Focus’.
