Mònica Pons Hernández is a PhD candidate at the Center for Environmental Law Studies of Tarragona (CEDAT) at the University Rovira i Virgili in Spain, where she is conducting research on European eel trafficking. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Criminology from the University of Barcelona and a Master's (MSc) in Transnational Crime, Justice, and Security from the University of Glasgow. Previously, she served as a research assistant at Northumbria University in the United Kingdom between 2018 and 2020. In 2022, she received the Young Researcher Award from the Spanish Society of Criminological Research.
